Introduction

All adventures start somewhere, ours started all bright eyed and bushy tailed like most others probably do. I had this vision of myself sitting in the sunshine, drinking fresh fruit cocktails in the amazon writing in my diary to later translate this to my blog. . . Like most of my goals that sailed out the window. The reality was just as sunny, but swop the fruit cocktail for cheap beer and writing in my diary for checking my phone GPS every 5 minutes, now thats closer to the truth.

This isn't a blog about how amazing travel is and about how incredible the world is, those blogs have already been written and read. This is a blog about the reality of travelling on a tight budget with two of your best friends who have double my budget and how to our friendship survived it.

This little blurb below is the only thing I wrote prior to my trip. Oh how excited I sounded.

"We take flight for the first leg of our journey on 5 June 2015. We're flying to Santiago, Chile via Sydney on Qantas airlines - I've personally never flown with the airline so will let you know my thoughts on the experience afterwards!

From Chile we have 76 days to kill in South America before our next flight from Bogota, Colombia to New York, USA. The 76 days is currently the longest leg of our trip so far and the biggest blank for as far as planning to date!

We know our ideal locations we would love to visit like Machu Picchu, Salt Flats of Bolivia and the Amazon! Every google search I've completed about locations we could be visiting has left me smiling and ...."

But please don't get me wrong travelling is my passion! It was an incredible experience whole of some of the best memories of my life. I've told that story though, so this is my time to tell the other side of my travels. Theres will be snippets of the good rippled through the bad, like a good tub of jelly tip ice cream!
